News: Stone Aerospace Offered Opportunity by the NSF to House Endurance AUV in NASA-sponsored Inflatable Habitat in Antarctica

20 November 2007:
Under NASA sponsorship ILC Dover  has developed a prototype inflatable habitat that could be deployed to the Moon or Mars.  The first variant will be transported to McMurdo Sound, Antartica next month for a year of testing.  The National Science Foundation  has offered Stone Aerospace (SAS) the opportunity to use the habitat to store the Endurance AUV at McMurdo after its first mission is complete at Lake Bonney post Oct 2008.  This gracious offer gives SAS the opportunity to start exploring such habitats for future manned missions to the moon as part of the Shackleton Energy Company's plan to mine Shackleton Crater for ice.
