Stone Aerospace is a world-authority on down-hole 3D imaging and map building. We design and build our own systems and can provide turnkey instruments to customers, with post-processing software, for any environment, wet or dry.

We typically image to +/- 15 mm accuracy out to ranges of 200 meters. But we can develop systems with greater accuracy or greater range. The image at lower left shows a system for work down to 300 meters underwater. This particular configuration created the 3D isometric image and the profile and plan maps shown at right. Variants of this can be designed for full ocean depth. We provide software for georegistration of multiple data collection missions. Instrument rotation during descent and ascent is automatically accounted for in the registration process. Much smaller diameter configurations are possible for sub-surface void imaging through drilled shafts. Dry cavities are imaged with lateral-viewing laser radar. Down-look wide FOV (field of view) imagers are also possible, using either sonar or LADAR.
