Stone Aerospace will design and build custom sonar mapping and obstacle avoidance systems based on discrete point sonar sensing elements. We can provide single narrow beam point “altimeters” to large array systems complete with software-selectable real-time gain and range gating in 330, 675, and 1200 kHz versions. Nominal update rate is 12 Hz. Standoff cables as long as 2.5 m are available. Data communications can be via RS232, RS485, or ethernet. We can also provide turnkey systems with onboard processors that perform the necessary homogeneous transformations and directly output instrument-centric, vehicle-centric, or world georegistered coordinates over the comm link. Typical uses for such systems include: drop sonde imaging, down-hole imagers, benthic probes, AUV mapping and obstacle avoidance sub-systems, and ROV obstacle avoidance systems. They can also be used for custom proxops and auto-docking systems, as well as geometry-based targeting systems.
